How Do I...?   /   Find...   /   Police Reports
Police Records

The records division maintains all of the department's incident and arrest reports, as well as motor vehicle crash reports. The records division is currently staffed by BTPD Records Administrator Daria Vandergoot.

Copies of all police reports can be picked up in person at our police headquarters. Motor vehicle crash reports are generally available 3 to 5 business days after the report is made, and police incident reports are typically available 5 to 10 business days after the date of the incident. You will need to provide the records clerk with the incident report number and/or your name and the approximate date the report was made. Please understand that absolutely no police reports will be released unless you have filled out an open public records request. The Boonton Township Police Department records request form can be found HERE.

The Records Section is located in the front lobby of police headquarters and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, but is closed on all major holidays.

If you are unable to appear in person to obtain a copy of your police report, you can request to have a copy of the report mailed or faxed to you. Again, in order to receive a copy of any police report, including accident reports, you must complete an Open Public Records Act Form which can be found by clicking HERE. Please keep in mind any incident that is still currently under investigation can not be released for any reason. If you need a Incident Verification Form please contact the Records Section. Also any reports involving domestic violence must be released by the municipal prosecutor and can take more than the regular amount of time allotted. All requests should be sent to:
