The Boonton Township Police Department has recently received an increase in complaints about motorists passing school buses. Driving of this nature is dangerous and will not be tolerated.

A violation of NJ 39:4-128.1 results in a $100 fine, and up to 15 days in jail or 15 days community service for a first offense.

Subsequent offenses result in a $250 fine or more and up to 15 days in jail. Five points are added to a driver’s record for each offense.
