The Boonton Township Police Department is pleased to offer safety inspections of your child's car or booster seat. Officers whom are certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians are able to set up appointments with our residents for the purpose of inspecting car or booster seats for proper and safe installation. These inspections include installation supervision, proper sizing determinations, and consumer recalls. Our agency even may be able to assist you in the event you are unable to obtain the proper car seat for your child. Specially trained officers from the Boonton Township Police Department teach the nationally recognized Drug Abuse Resistance Education program to children in the Rockaway Valley School. The Boonton Township Police Department currently and actively teaches the DARE curriculum to 5th and 7th grade students in our community.
Boonton Township Police will conduct an exterior check of your home whether you are on vacation, in the process of selling your home or for any other reason that your home will be vacant for a period of time. An officer will conduct checks of your home and will contact you when you arrive home to ensure that there were no problems while you were away or your home was vacant. It is very important that if you arrive home earlier than expected you must notify the police department immediately.
The Boonton Township Police Department conducts programs for parents and children on topics such as internet safety, cyber predators and cyber bullying. The "Alert Boonton Township" system allows the Boonton Township Police Department to send emergency messages to all residents, if the need arises. Residents can choose to receive text, voice or email alerts. The messages themselves are authorized and activated only by the Boonton Township Police Department, and the Boonton Township Office of Emergency Management. Specially trained and certified officers conduct general police patrol from a specially equipped mountain bike. These patrols are generally targeted at specific areas or used in conjunction with special Boonton Township events.
The Boonton Township Police Department in conjunction with the Morris County Sheriffs Office aides senior citizens or anyone with special needs in ensuring that they are protected on a daily basis.
Citizens enrolled in Project Lifesaver wear a small personal transmitter around the wrist or ankle that emits an individualized tracking signal. If an enrolled client goes missing, the caregiver notifies the Boonton Township Police Department, and a trained emergency team responds to the wanderer’s area. Most who wander are found within a few miles from home, and search times have been reduced from hours and days to minutes. Recovery times for Project Lifesaver clients average 30 minutes — 95% less time than standard operations. For an application please click here.
